My Ignite at LeWeb 2011 – The Future Way of Working: The Distributed Company

Last week I was privileged to be one of the few people on stage at the LeWeb conference in Paris, and I gave an Ignite presentation about The Future Way of Working: The Distributed Company. I go into more depth on how Auttomatic works in this post from earlier in the year.

If you’ve never given a presentation in the Ignite format: 5 minutes, 20 slides, 15 seconds each (read more about the Ignite format on O’Reilly’s website), I strongly urge you to – it will challenge you as a presenter and force you to be very succinct and practice quite a bit to stay with the timing. I’ve presented several Ignites in Italian this year, but this was the first one in English.

Here’s the video of my presentation:

  1. Excellent… I work from home, I have now for several years, and like you say, there are times that I am more Productive, the early morning, and late at night being some of my most Productive times

Thanks for the Exposure, it’s good to see the Working Environment Changing on a Global Scale

  2. I finally got the chance to see your Ignite talk that I missed last month at LeWeb. (For others reading this: LeWeb conference = too much in parallel + too little time.) Well done! I didn’t know your topic was a concept I have long espoused — from distributed grad studies & scientific research, to now a distributed startup…

  3. Sara,

    Excellent insights.

I was surprised to find out the amount of traffic WordPress generates.

I am a champion of working remotely. I can schedule time for my work outs and be productive.

For the past five years, I have been working remotely at co-working spaces in Hong Kong and truly enjoy the experience.

    Thanks again.

Portland! It was super quick and full of meetings with lovely colleagues as I head back to work soon, and so much delicious #espresso. I have to get back here so, so soon to properly see the city.
Just posted the template I use for year-end reflection and goal setting. Let me know if you end up using it! Link in profile. #goals #goalsetting #newyearsgoals
Happy New Year! Traditional first #espresso of the year to start things off. This is the time of year I do some reflecting back and planning for what’s ahead (with help...it’s starting to get crowded in here). I’ll share my template this week so you can reflect and plan, too. #2020
Happy December! I am a happy advent calendar addict...anyone else? Showing off two (but there are more...) - one is an amazing handmade calendar to replicate one I grew up with (thanks @julienicolesanders!) & a lovely edible advent calendar from @dandelionchocolate I’ve been coveting. #adventcalendar #adventaddict
It takes a village! Or at least 3 to watch 2 under 3 so 1 can cook! #Thanksgiving is a favorite holiday and meal, glad I was able to pull it together this year and cook for family! On the menu a turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, honey glazed carrots, savory butternut squash (from the garden) and cranberry sauce of course. Happy to you and yours! ❤️
When people wait in line for ramen in a mall at all hours, you gotta try it. Braved the line for @ramennagiusa with @marshmelones and a cooperative 3-month old and it was delicious! #ramen
